We are using WooCommerce on an SSL domain.

We get this error in the WP-Crontrol panel:

There was a problem spawning a call to the WP-Cron system on your site. This means WP-Cron jobs on your site may not work. The problem was:
SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed

I understand it’s not a plugin specific problem, but does anyone have an idea what it could mean? (SSL is working perfectly on our domain otherwise, no padlock errors)

This means that your server CA bundle doesn’t trust the certificate for your domain. If your domain’s cert is otherwise valid then you’ll need to update your server’s CA bundle as it could be out of date or could have some CAs missing.

That was indeed the problem. Our host input the wrong credentials for the SSL and it went unnoticed until now.

Thank you for your quick response. You can mark this as solved 🙂
