    Hi –

I haven’t done this yet, but I will be attempting to migrate my multi-site (1 site with 2 subdirectories) live via a hosting provider.

I have a few concerns before I get started, so if any of you can help out that would be great!

    1. I have a lot of settings customized through the admin panel and plugin settings pages that don’t necessarily have .php or .css files associated with them. Will I lose all of these preferences when I migrate the site?

    2. Should I document all of the settings beforehand or something so I can recreate them if needed?

    Thank you!

    1. If by migrate you mean uploading just all your files to the live server then yes, the settings (and posts/pages) will be lost. Most Plugins/Themes settings (and the site’s content of course) are stored in the database so you’ll want to copy your database(s), too.

    2. Documenting is always good, but if you could manage to copy your database then you won’t need to recreate most of them.

There is a plugin called backup buddy. it does everything for you in one click. Back up and upload where you want and follow instruction. It takes 3 min to migrate a demo website to live. It costs 80/year
