    Hello there,

so I’m planning to use WP to replace an old site which is currently online. Probably I will install WP in a subfolder like (domain.com/wordpress) so the old site will be available while I configure WP. I’ve read WP guide to move the installation (http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory) from a subfolder to root. So:

    1) I should follow the instructions presented on “Using a pre-existing subdirectory install”, right?

    2) One simple thing that I don’t understand is how to COPY (and not move) index.php and .htaccess files. Cos I can’t copy any file using FileZilla.

    thanks

If you can’t copy or move files in FileZilla, then it seems you don’t have a privileged ftp user. Are you able to make a subdirectory in your FileZilla account?

Hey John. Thanks for your answer.

Yes, I can create new folders in public_html with no problem
