Is wordpress secure?

    I recently downloaded a theme for a wordpress blog I’m working on. Yesterday I checked back at the same website where I got the theme (which I found in the word press list of free themes) and the site is down and said it was hacked by GeNkStAr.

    This has me worried for the safety of my site… if its possible for that site to get hacked, is my blog safe? Is wordpress secure?

    It’s more secure if youre running a current version, (unlike that particular site).
