I recently installed the VIRTUE theme and use a theme switcher for mobile visitors to my blog, and I really like it.

However, I have lately noticed many new images appearing in my UPLOADS folder, including some labelled; image-name@2x.jpg and with about 4 size variations. Is this from Virtue? my site is big so the additional space used up by these files is a problem.

If this is not Virtue, would anyone have a clue as to where I should look?
    thank you!

    Hey,
It is virtue, Since 2.1 I added full support for wp-retina plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-retina-2x/

The theme now creates retina images that can be used to replace other images in your site.

If you don’t want to support retina screens then you can remove this from the file: virtue/lib/aq_resizer.php
