including comments in the receipt emails

Is it possible to insert the order comments into the order receipt emails? What is the variable short code or can someone point to an example or tutorial on how to do this? Presently the comments for the order are only visible from the cart admin, if we can have them on the email that goes to the buyer and the store admin that would be ideal.
