    Dear WordPress,

I installed Jetpack and I’m using this function that people can subscribe to my blog and receive emails every time an article is published. I am really happy with this function, however I have a few questions:

    1. My ‘featured image’ is not shown in these emails. This is very sad since it makes the posts look very boring. Is there a way to do show this ‘featured image’ in the mails?

    2. Next to the title of the post there is this flower-like avatar. Could I replace this little I icon and personalize it? That would make the emails look way better.

    3. Is there a way to see the list of emailaddresses that are subscribed for this function so I can add or delete or just manage these emailaddresses? Where can I see this?

Thanks so much for you reply, I am really looking forward to the support!

    Kind regards,
    Isabel

    Hi!

    1) No, at the moment the Featured Image is not included in the subscription email. We have had some heated discussions as to whether or not to do this, as it would be a good thing for some people but not necessarily for everyone, so for the moment, we’re leaving it as is, with no Featured Image included.

    2) That is your Gravatar. Log in to http://gravatar.com with the email address connected to the WordPress.com account that you used to connect Jetpack to WordPress.com, and you can upload an image there.

    3) Yes, there is: http://jetpack.me/support/subscriptions/#view-your-email-subscribers

+1 for Featured Image in subscription emails!

And thank you for posting this here. I had the very same three questions! 🙂

“+1 for Featured Image in subscription emails!”
    and
“1. My ‘featured image’ is not shown in these emails. This is very sad since it makes the posts look very boring. Is there a way to do show this ‘featured image’ in the mails?”

I agree! It would be a great addition to the plugin and an important one. Subscription e-mails could be made to look far more interesting and thus more likely to be followed up.

I am not actually sure why there were “heated discussions”. The featured image is as much a part of an article as the text. I think the only case might be where someone is using a poorly designed or legacy theme that doesn’t include the featured image, so they manually add it to each post. That would result in the image showing up twice in the email, so maybe an override option for those using bad themes is in order.

That’s exactly it, and you’d be surprised at the number of themes out there that would fall under this description! In any case, we do plan on revisiting the format of our subscription emails, so we’ll what happens when we do!
