    Hi,

I just realized that my recent posts display the wrong canonical link in the header. My post published on January 3rd is the last post to display the correct canonical link. All posts since then have a canonical link to my home page, which is clearly an issue for SEO.

I’ve noticed the issue ever since I started using a plugin called “Floating Social Share,” which I installed on January 4th. I thought the issue was just an issue with my facebook “like” count. It was displaying the total number of likes for my homepage, not the individual posts. I’ve since realized that not only was my og:URL tag displaying my home page, but my canonical link was also linking to my home page.

I deactivated and deleted the “Floating Social Share” plugin and the canonical links are still wrong. I’ve looked in that plugin’s support area and haven’t found any others with the same problem. Could it have changed the way that WordPress SEO outputs the canonical links?

For the record, here’s a list of plugins that I installed and deactivated during the time that the canonical issues popped up:
january 5th 1:38 am deleted pinterest pin it button AND add this
january 5th 10:38 pm installed simple share buttons adder
january 6th 8:38 am deleted simple share buttons adder

Help! Please, I’d really like to get to the bottom of the matter.

    Thank you,
    Kate

Ha, I finally figured it out. A Chrome browser extension was inserting my home page URL in the canonical link area in the post editor.
