Update: It turns out the problem is occurring on all computers! Only the admin can add photos. The error occurs when authors try to upload an image.
    Any ideas?

    What’s the error message?

Hey thanks. It turns out the error message was popping up because the hosting company was limiting the PHP memory limit. I had to upgrade before they would up the limit and let the plug in do its business.

Still dont understand why it let it work when you were logged in as admin but its sorted now

    Thanks a mil

Glad it’s sorted. It may be that collectively, being logged in as the admin uses less memory and so you didn’t go over the limit for your resizing… but who knows. There’s lots of mysterious stuff goes under the hood in WordPress!
