Extend functionality to custom menu items?

First of all, really cool plugin! I’ve had to do some tinkering to get it to work on a buddypress site, but it’s up and running now.
I’d love to be able to use the plugin’s functionality without having to add the top bar to my site. Any suggestions on the mod I’d need to make to get this to work on a custom menu item of my choosing?
I hope this plugin hasn’t been abandoned; it’s really useful!
