Dreamhost moved my site to another server and 1 (greenberg) of my 8 domains will not map. What gives?? I tried fully hosting and mirroring the domain. Neither works. Gave >12hrs to propagate.

If you look at the DNS for greenberg, it’s pointing to a different IP. It ends in 67 and should end in 85

If you reply to the email that has the Subject: Moved account [number] from [server], you can just say “The domain [greenberg] is still pointing to the old IP, can someone please kick the server?”

Gonna be faster than posting in WP about that one, for sure. I ran the command and the IP is now correct, so that should catch up soon. If it’s not okay in an hour, open a ticket and someone with more DNS power than I can take a bigger hammer to it.

Thanks. I’m out of town so couldn’t take a good look at this, but it has caught up.

I won’t comment (again) on the speed or efficacy of contacting your people directly.

    Again, thanks!!

*heh* Well telling us HERE means you have to wait for WP to email me that there’s a new DreamHost specific ticket that needs my love, and then for me to catch up with all my management stuff to come back around. In general, if something changes on a server, start with the server people 🙂 If something changed in WP, start here, and so on 🙂 Just logical, is all.

I know we’ve been backlogged with tickets (we pulled a lot of overtime to catch up) so our speed should be back to same-day replies.

    Logic can be funny:

    Hi there,

This is just a note to let you know that although it’s almost been
24 hours since you sent in your message, we haven’t forgotten about
    you!

We strive to answer all questions within 24 hours, but due to the
large number of questions we have right now we’re afraid we may have
to go over a bit this time. 🙁

Please hang in there and we’ll be getting back to you as quickly
    as we possibly can!

Our apologies again, and we appreciate your understanding.

So, three days, not a few hours, but a few days later, I get this response (about a different domain. Meanwhile, dreamhost gets free advertisement while the domain points to the wrong place) :

    Hello,
[Post server move] the domain pattyr.com is pointing to 208.113.137.8

it should be pointing to 208.113.137.85

    Can you please fix this?
    Thanks.

    REPLY, >72hrs later

Thank you for contacting us. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you!
In order for the domain to be active on your account it will need to
resolve to 208.113.137.8. The domain shows the coming soon page because
you do not have files uploaded to the space you designated here:

    https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=…

No credits are due. You can simply upload your files to the website to
make it active. If you are not sure where to put the files please read
    this:

    http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Ftp#Where_do_I_put_my_files_once_I.27ve_connected_via_FTP.3F

If you want the website pointed elsewhere please confirm where you want
it to resolve to and I can explain how to accomplish it.

    Thanks!

Wow. So not helpful. Do you see why I post to the forum first?

Wow. And now, all of the sudden, my other other domains no longer work. Excellent.
