change img src prefix

Im trying to change the way images in <?php the_post_thumbnail(); ?> are called by changing from <img src=””> to <img x:src=””> … is there a way to rewrite the default img src syntax in functions.php, so that the default src for images in wordpress will be ximg x:src=””?
