Embedding Tweets, WordPress 3.8.1 – Chrome, Mozilla
-
Please help!
I run a site using WordPress 3.8.1, and the Valenti theme.
A few days ago, all of a sudden the Tweets stop embedding properly. They simply show as a text block quote, rather than rendering to the tweet box that should be displayed. You can see what I am talking about here:

For Internet Explorer, tweets show just fine. However in Chrome and Mozilla they dont. I know there was a Twitter issue in 3.8, but I thought it was supposed to be fixed in 3.8.1.
Thought it might be a theme issue, but it works in IE.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I cannot find a fix for this.
thanks in advance.

We have tried embedding using source code, the url on a single line, etc. All looks that same in Chrome and Mozilla.
Where are those embedded tweets? I only see Twitter screenshot images on that page (such as http://cdn4.sportsmockery.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Adam-Schefter-Tweet-1.png ), but no actual embeds that don’t have the box styling.
Try now please, sorry we removed them because they didnt work.
just added one on the top for ya.
Ok, I see it now.
What code do you use to embed the tweet? Also, if you switch to a default theme (twentytwelve, twentythirteen, etc.), does it work then?
Still happens in other themes, just tested
It almost seems as if WordPress 3.8.1 fixed issue for IE but not Chrome, Mozilla
I’m wondering if this is an issue with Twitter.
The tweet is embedded properly and it’s also calling widgets.js from platform.twitter.com — however it’s not transforming the tweet code to an iframe (which is what widgets.js should be doing).
Only IE8 seems to be doing it OK. Hmmm.
Very odd.

Here is WordPress ticket that claims it was fixed … I think. π
The problem is that AdBlock plus is blocking the js.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/15147379/twitter-timeline-widget-not-working-in-chromeBy adding this to the whitelist it will display properly.
#@#.twitter-tweet @@||platform.twitter.com/widgets.js @@||syndication.twimg.com/tweets.json?* @@||platform.twitter.com/widgets/follow_button.*.html$subdocument
Thanks, but I don’t use Ad Block Plus. I did however use Ad Inserter and after disabling that it still doesn’t work properly.
You can now see it without ads plugin running here:
You seem to have an issue with this script.
http://www.yardbarker.com/network.jshmm.. I have to keep that on there, do you know what the issue is?
That is the default script all YardBarker sites run, so I would imagine if it was a problem on their end with the script I would have heard about it.
What can I do differently?
BTW – thank you so much for your help
I was able to view the tweet correctly on your site in chrome but it is not consistent. I think the issue is that you are loading too many scripts. The site is making around 195 request to the server and takes a long time to load. I would try to reduce the number of javascript files that you use.
Idk… I have loaded more scripts than that in the past without a problem.
If that was the case, wouldn’t it be more consistent between browsers?
