Call me dense but I cannot seem to interpret the CSV template to set up a seating chart for my event.

From the template I downloaded it looks like the stage is on the left. I have tried changing the Y’s to N’s to see and then update the seats but I do not see anything when I click on “See the show” other than the color coded legend on top.

Also when I put the shortcode on my test page… I cannot interpret the seating chart

maybe your csv file is malformed. Open the updated csv file in excel or another editor (such as open office) and see how it looks. If it looks malformed or with semicolon (;) then something went wrong.

I downloaded another copy of the file and it looked identical to the one I used yesterday. I opened it with Excel(2013) originally and today opened it with Notepad and it is indeed Comma delimited. Am i correct that the stage in the CSV is on the left?

Here’s the url to the site where I am testing this…

the copy/paste that you posted doesn’t look well, but that’s probably, because it is not parsed well in notepad, as it would in excel. The stage is on the left. When you paste ‘N’ it will not show the block of seat.

    Thread Starter Dutch65

    (@dutch65)

If I put an “N” in a given spot that seat should show up as sold or not available, correct?

Also, Should I be seeing a seating chart when I click on “See the Show” or when I display http://www.dsvanprooyen.net/test-page using the shortcode?

    Plugin Author GC GROUP

    (@gcwebsolutions)

no, if you place ‘B’ it will show as booked and not be available. The ‘N’ will hide the block. On the backend, when you click See the Show it will display the seat chart from what you uploaded.

I sure must be missing something…

Also in the template I downloaded as shown above there are other letters like C, S, L that are not in the legend and words like Row, Price, Circle and Stall should I remove those lines from the CSV?

    Plugin Author GC GROUP

    (@gcwebsolutions)

you can safely remove those if you don’t want to use them.

I should add that I have not purchased any of the paid modules… I am manually editing the CSV with Excel 2013. I want do the proof of concept before I go to the board of trustees for the organization for funding. We are very interested in being able to sell tickets via our website and RowSeats looks like a good solution. We have been trying the Modern Tribe product suite but they do not have seat selection. Woo allowed us to have a free copy of their plugins as we are a non profit organization

    (@gcwebsolutions)

There is no need to purchase any of the modules, for the core to run. It will work without the modules, but with limitations. But, you can still run a successful show, sell seats and collect payment offline or ‘will call’.

When I set up my show in the calendar i had the orientation left to right but in the downloadable CSV it appears the seating orientation is right to left. I changed the orientation in the show and the chart looks a lot better 🙂

Not sure why Stall, Balcony and Circle appear the way they do but I will figure it out

    Thanks for your patience…

    Plugin Author GC GROUP

    (@gcwebsolutions)

the wording Stall/Balcony/Circle will only show in left right orientation. If you don’t need those, then delete them from the csv.

With your help… I think I have figured out how to create a seating chart for the various venues where our chorale performs. I have a couple of related questions about the creation of the show itself. We typically have 2 or 3 concerts per series. One series in the fall around Christmas and the other in the Spring (usually in May)

Is there a way the buying public can go to the calendar and select the specific concert (event) for which they want to purchase tickets. From my perspective it looked like the calendar was only accessible on the backend.

Related to the above, when I setup my events using either the date or week option, I could set the start time but could not set an end time. Not a big deal but the documentation said one could
