My WP installations suddenly started to reject my password. I decided to recover it, but I cannot do this, because when I use the password reminder, the machine is sending me an automated e-mail with an URL that seems to be somehow wrong.
Any idea what could it be?

  • Hi there, the best thing i can think of is that you may want to try this emergency script, as long as you have ftp to your hosting account.

    hope you get there.
    mike.

I actually tried the village idiot emergency file but after I put it in my root directory, I get this in bold:

    “Error establishing a database connection”

Which has screwed up my website. I’ve done all the steps that I should have done and I can’t see where I went wrong? Does anyone know a solution to this?

umm, I’ve checked a couple of times in the past two days and the site http://www.village-idiot.org seems to be dead at the moment
One more thing: the machine is sending me the same key all the time, and there is a ‘)’ sign in it, that somehow affects the whole key; the signs, that come after the ‘)’ sign, are not included into URL. Of course I,ve tried to copy/paste the key into the adress bar, but i didn’t help

It works fine for me. But I’m sure you read the other tips in this sticky?

@gangleri – thanks for the hint, I’ll give it a try

The problem is now solved, I have removed the old activation code from the database and acquired a new one and then everything was OK. Thanks for the hints:)

    wojs,

From Poland? That would explain why youre not able to connect to my site.

Why would that explain him not being able to connect to your site?
