Something like related posts

I am trying to list posts, one main post (image, title, text), then six or eight image only. When user clicks on an image it swaps with the main image. Yes like a slideshow with thumbnail navigation. I have tried more than 10 different sliders. Any ideas of the best way to accomplish this task. I will bu a plugin if necessary. There needs to be two different categories on the page.
