• I have recently created my Mailchimp account, created and added a Mailchimp ‘Subscribe to Newsletter’ form on my site bonawittjewelry.com I did not use the Mailchimp plugin and I would now also like to replace the WordPress ‘Subscribe to Blog’ Widget on my home page with a Mailchimp plugin service.

    Could someone please point me in the right direction to the proper Mailchimp plugin or service necessary to accomplish this task. As of yet I have not been able to find this particular service mentioned. The closest to it would be ‘Subscribe to Mailchimp List’ and I do not think this is describing the same thing. I am particularly interested in having any new subscriber to my blog automatically added to my Mailchimp List of subscribing email addresses.

  • One way to add new subscribers to your Mailchimp List from your site is to go to MailChimp, create a list (if you haven’t already), click on the list name, choose sign up forms from the menu, create an embedded form, then copy and paste the html into a text widget on your site.

    Thank you alysonearl. In doing this I am curious wether they would automatically receive email alerts of new blog posts as well. This would be great because my list of subscribers would grow at the same time as their email address is appended to my own Mailchimp list. If this is not available Im interested in knowing if another company out there can provide this service.

    I suppose its not clear to me what IS meant by ‘New Subscribers’ . In setting up Mailchimp it appeared that: 1. Their email is added to a list. 2. I can start a Campaign 3. Automatically send pre time determined emails (With Upgraded account).

    No where did I see anything concerning ‘Subscribe to Blog’; by this is I am referring to an automated ‘Subscribe To’ Mailchimp service.

    You can create an RSS campaign within MailChimp to automatically notify your email list about new blog posts. You can find detailed instructions at MailChimp support: http://kb.mailchimp.com/home

    Dbugy – I have the EXACT same question as you – I can’t figure out if I need to have people subscribe to a newsletter and my blog. I see on your site you ended up doing both. What did you figure out, if anything??

    After reading a few of these comments it appears that Alysonearl has a solution w/an RSS campaign. However, automatic notifications are offered as a paid service and I was hoping to avoid any extra charges for now. Thanks to Alysonearl for posting the links and info! =)

    I set up my automatic RSS campaign without incurring a fee. My lists are small enough that I qualify for a free account. If there is interest, I’ll put together step by step instructions.

    alysonearl… I would be interested in step by step instructions on how to set this up. Please post or message me if possible.
    Thanks!

    @sincitywiz:

    to automatically add names to your list:
    go to MailChimp, create a list (if you haven’t already), click on the list name, choose sign up forms from the menu, create an embedded form, then copy and paste the html into a text widget on your site.

    to set up the RSS driven email campaign:

    Does this answer your question?

    @sincitywiz
    FYI I installed the plugin MailChimp for WordPress Lite (the free version) by Danny van Kooten to collect email addresses from my website. So far I am pleased with it.
