Is there any way in WP-Members to set all the passwords to be the same?

The client I’m working with originally was managing her viewable content with WP-Members and the users all set their own passwords, as per regular use of the plugin. However, she now wants there to be no need for individual passwords and let everyone access the blocked content if they know the single password.

I can change every post and page to password protected, but this is 1) tedious to do for all the content; and 2) not user-friendly if the user has to enter the password for EVERY page they want to see rather than just to be able to see the site in general.

I have advised against making this change, but the client insists, so I’m trying to make the transition as seamless as possible.

    Thanks for your help!

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Gotta get things switched over soon. I really appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Is the client thinking that the user would only need to enter a password (as opposed to username/password combination)? Or are they thinking that every user account would have the globally assigned password?

I would also ask them if they have thought through how this will be managed in the future when a user becomes a problem and the password needs to be changed.

How you approach doing something like this (which, as you have already advised, is a bad idea) depends entirely upon how they view the process working.

Chad, it’s because she’s with an MLM company, and the company doesn’t allow their training to be ‘public’… all training has to be available only to those who are given the password. She’s also dealing with very novice users who always seem to be bugging her about the password, forgetting their user name, etc. The system will take care of it all, but she’s tired of the headache, and wants to simplify it. I’ve been trying to convince her to leave it as it is. She’s getting conflicting information from her ‘upline’ and I can understand that she’s just trying to do what’s required by the company.

There doesn’t seem to be a way to set all of the passwords the same (for obvious reasons). So, I will probably encourage her to continue using the system as it is, and set up a general public user account that anybody with the username and password can use. Then she only has to keep track of that username and password…

If it were an ecommerce site or something, I’d hold the line with it, but since it’s mostly an information site, we should be able to do ok with the public user account.

    Thanks Chad.
