  • Thanks for writing this. It’s good to have options. Do you know if Zemanta tags are as good or better than YQL tags?

Not sure to be honest, seems to be more accurate to me, but that may just be me!

    Hey @daverage,

thanks for using Zemanta API 😉 Let us know if you need anything, we’ll gladly help.

@beer Hi, it seems to be better than YQL in that it is contextual. If all you write is Lego for instance, you get back Toy, Games etc.

I ran a test on my own and it wasn’t too bad. I think a mix would work best, based on my own results or an option to let the webmaster decide. I had some posts where YQL didn’t return any results for me also, so a backup is a good idea. YQL uses terms in my post or title, but Zemanta suggests terms related even if they aren’t in the title or post.

Do you want to collaborate? We could do that on Github or discuss it by email. I went ahead and added Zemanta as a backup on my own site and ran it against posts that didn’t have any tags.

Hi. I was thinking about doing just that. Have it set up so if you have an API key for Zemanta it uses that in addition to YQL, removes duplicates and then sorts them by relevance and returns the desired number of keywords.

Happy to work on a proper release via GitHub. Having never used github, is that something you can set up?

Tempted to go a bit further and look at adding other services like alchemy as well!

Given than other plugins are having issues – Simple Tags seems to have stopped for me 🙁 and tags.mowster has a content limit so no long articles…it would be good to have a Zemanta & YQL option, because atm WordPress is very limited…Alchemy too – since having 2+ plugins running side by side is far from optimal.

Personally I do prefer being able to choose, though…but good work both of you!
