Slider Header & Recent Posts on Homepage

Hi Ossie!

Love the Formation Theme, I’m using it to build a client’s website.

I have two questions:

1. I installed a plugin called Content Slide, so that my header images will fade and change, but I would only like it to show up on the homepage. Is there a way to remove the header on the other pages?

I followed the directions on the plugin site and they didn’t work: http://www.snilesh.com/resources/wordpress/wordpress-plugins/wordpress-content-slide-plugin/

2. Is there a way to remove the Recent Posts box from the homepage? I won’t be setting up a blog on the site, so this is not needed for my client.

Please let me know!

Also- Will you be adding an Instagram social icon to the Social Media Settings? I need to include my client’s Instagram account… Is there another way to get around this since it isn’t an option under Manage Themes?

Hello,

1. I am not sure about that particular plugin but you will plenty of threads here on having a header in your homepage only:

2. To remove the recent posts add this to the style.css file:
```
.section_thumbnails {
display: none;
}
```
3. I will add an Instagram for the next theme update

And will I have to create a child theme before updating to the new version of Formation?

Hello, I expect to have an update next week. You do not have to create a child theme.

Hi Ossie,

So I’m assuming this updated version has the Instagram tab as a social link. I want to update but this message is telling me to create a child theme:

Themes

The following themes have new versions available. Check the ones you want to update and then click “Update Themes”.

Please Note: Any customizations you have made to theme files will be lost. Please consider using child themes for modifications.

Are you sure I don’t need to create a child theme?

If you have not made any customizations to theme files then you you will not need a child theme.
