• Hello,

After update my site with AIO SEO plugin and about after 1 weeks of time i have discover on Google webmaster tools lots new duplicate content by dates archives, some of the looks like,

    23 | July | 2012 | Site Name
    /2012/07/23/page/2/
    /2012/07/23/page/3/
    30 | April | 2013 | Site Name
    /2013/04/30/
    /2013/04/30/page/2/
    /2013/04/30/page/5/
    Techno | Site Name
    /category/techno/
    /category/techno/page/3/

    And so on,

In my AIO SEO dashboard noindex settings i have the follow setup:

Use noindex for Date Archives: Selected

Use noindex for Author Archives: Selected

Use noindex for Tag Archives: Selected

Use noindex for the Search page: Selected

To avoid duplicate content, but seems those settings not work.

    Can you please advice ?

    Thank you very much.
    George

    Hi George,

Make sure you check the Remove Descriptions For Paginated Pages box under All in One SEO, General Settings, Advanced Settings and this will remove duplicate meta descriptions for paginated content.

Can you be more specific as to what Google Webmaster Tools is telling you. Is it saying you have duplicate title tags, or is it saying you have duplicate meta description, or is it saying you have both?

Also, can you post the URL for your site so we can check it.

    Thanks for your reply,

    The duplicate tags are under

    Not duplicate meta description.

Please note: that happen after install AIO SEO I was Thesis user without any SEO plugin.

    Hi veggera,

All in One SEO Pack is behaving correctly in this instance. It is adding ” – Part 2″, ” – Part 3″, etc on the end of the title tag. This should not result in a duplicate title tag warning from Google because Google recommends that for paginated content you add a page number on the end of the title tag. Those warnings in GWT could be old or out of date, Google doesn’t clear them out very often and they don’t provide a date when the issue was last reported.

    Hello wpsmort,

It’s strange to me. Before change my site design from Thesis framework i have not duplicate title tags, but just few and those from duplicate post titles. Seems those duplicate generated after new design and AIO SEO plugin install to help us in better SEO handle.

After your last response I’m not sure what need to check and resolve this.
AIO SEO seems better solution for our site and don’t want to change, but duplicate need to clear them out.

    Thank you

    Hi veggera,

As I said in my last response, the way that All in One SEO Pack handles title tags for paginated content is the way that Google recommends. We have no reason to change this unless Google says that title tags for paginated content should be handled differently.

No other users have reported issues with duplicate title tags for paginated content so this tells me that the way we format title tags for paginated content by adding the ” – Part #” on the end is still correct.

I don’t believe this is in any way related to All in One SEO Pack, I believe that either those errors in Google Webmaster Tools are old and out of date or are false errors.
