The latest two releases (4.2 and 4.2.2) of customer area have taken the login function away from my main template – you have to click on customer area first and then it takes you to login page.

Previous releases (recent updates) took away the horizontal menu.

I had this working on the morning of 19/2 but going back to the 4.0 to 4.1.2 take away the horizontal menu. Horizontal menu is back in 4.2+ but users can’t login without going through customer area.

I have messed about with this for a few hours now and love the plugin – not so happy with it not working anymore :(.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

  • I don’t really know which customisations you had done to your main template and I don’t know if you have the Login Forms add-on installed. So it is quite hard to help you with so little info.

The expected behaviour is: if you go to a customer area page (my files/dashboard/main customer area page/…) then:
    – Not logged-in -> you get redirected to the login form (or the login form is directly embedded in your site with the addon)
    – Logged-in -> you get the page you are looking for

So I don’t know what you mean by “The latest two releases (4.2 and 4.2.2) of customer area have taken the login function away from my main template”.

Because 4.2.x is not different from 4.x on this kind of behaviour. This is just a bug fix release.

At worse, try to delete all the Customer Area pages, empty the trash, delete the customer area navigation menu. Then create them again using the status page.

Thank you for your advice – I uninstalled everything, deleted all the pages, reinstalled with version 4.2.3 and still have the issue. To be a little clearer – I think perhaps there is a hook or filter somewhere in the CUAR files that is requiring me to go to customer area before it is possible to log in to the site – this is not the case with the 4.1+ versions of the plugin – only since 4.2. I disabled all other plugins so there is no other plugin interfering and I have done nothing new to my theme.

I have reinstalled 4.1.2 which allows my users to login without going through the customer area but I cannot get my horizontal menu back in the customer area – I must be missing something really elemental — I imagine it is a simple CSS issue for the nav menu but am not sure how to change that either. I am using the default v-4 template.

Any snippet or idea would be appreciated.

    – To fix the CSS, you need to edit your theme.
    – Customer Area does not have any hook that should be triggered for example if you go to wp-admin. Unless if you have the login forms add-on (do you have that add-on?).

I don’t have the login forms add-on – I will play with the CSS a bit more – maybe after a good night’s sleep it will all be clear 🙂 – it’s funny – with 4.2.3 the menu works but my theme based login disappears and with 4.1.2 the theme based login works but the menu is just bullets…

Thank you, by the way, for your thoughful and quick responses – it’s much appreciated 🙂
