Came across your great plugin, just want I wanted to use to select multiple ‘non’ used old images so I can delete them. As a grid view you can see them better. But I see you have disabled the ‘Select/edit/delete’ function. When is this returning? Really need to select and delete loads of pics via this viewing method!!!!!!!

  • I think it’s going to be awhile till anything gets updated with this plugin as Shaun has his hands full getting one of his other plugins ready to be included in the next wordpress update (3.9). I have started to try and help out with development and have delete working both per item and bulk. I would love it if you would give it a try and let me know what you think. And just in case you are using tags for your media I have a different branch that has searching by media tags working as well. You will need to have either the Enhanced Media Library plugin or Paul Menards Media Tags plugin installed for this to work (for now).

If you are interested just download the new files from my fork on Github. Just click on Download ZIP on the right. Rename your original media-grid folder to something else so you can easily revert back and copy the new media-grid folder into your plugins folder.

As part of the WordPress Core “Plugins as Features” project, we’re actively working on improving the Media Grid plugin. Our hope is to having something ready for inclusion in the next release of WordPress.

Hello all – I was looking for such a tool as well. Curious, do some of these tools simply delete from the uploads folder, or are they savvy enough to remove database references to the images. I just assumed that the DB gets a media table record to track the media.

aside: when we look at the unattached images bulk select option… are these simple ones that have no inserted (posts, page, etc) records? I’d be happy to simply use this to select all unattached items and then delete those, but I’m that my custom theme(has custom data types e.g. “portfolio” ) may have items attached that WP can’t detect. Is this a valid guess?

    Thanks in advance! 🙂
