We installed the plugin on the dev website so we could track client visits.

Now we’ve copied our database over to the live site, but the plugin is still showing old dev site stats, even after updating to pull live site stats.

Reset the Google Analytics access. Deactivated and reactivated.

I even uninstalled and deleted the plugin, then reinstalled and approved Google Analytics access — still not pulling the live site stats (which should be zero as this is launch day, instead we have all the dev traffic listed).

I have checked multiple times, the plugin is set to pull the stats from the live site, not the dev one.

Help me oh great Jedi plugin programmer! You’re my only hope. =)

  • Hi,

I think I understand what you mean. You are saying that you had analytics set up on the dev site. Which means that any page views were being tracked from the development site.

You then moved the site over to live (you said you copied the DB), so you are using the same analytics account as the dev site. Which makes sense that the dev stats are still in side the same analytics account. And each time you visit the dev site it will be tracking that into the same account as the live site.

Or to put it simply, if the UA-xxx is exactly the same for dev and live, then you are always going to track the dev and live stats in the one account.

If you don’t want the dev stats to be in the live account then you would need to create a completely new analytics account.

    Hope this makes sense.
