cannot access themes

    Finally got through the famous 5 day setup.
    1and1 web server.
    Finally i can log in and get to my wordpress site.
    First thing I have tried to do is download a new theme.
    I go to appearance / theme / add theme and get to the install theme page.
    What ever boxes i tick, when I search I get this –
    ‘An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.’
    Not sure what to do now. I have had so many problems installing this.
    This version must be the 3rd time downloaded, 8th time uploaded and 3rd database setup. I got this version to work by adding ‘index.php’ to the web.config file. That is the only change to this upload.

    This is a server issue – sometimes caused by a failure to compile PHP with cUrl. Contact your hosts about it.

    1and1 should support wordpress.
    I have had so many problems i was assuming it was something wrong on my computer.
    Is it worth starting again, again.

    Yes they should but even the best of hosts make the odd mistake. Try contacting them and asking them about it.

    1and1 supports wordpress with linux hosting, if you run wordpress with microsoft hosting there are a lot of issues.
