• I am trying to point (or “forward”) a domain I registered with Register.com to my WordPress blog. On Register.con they have an option called “Basic Website Forwarding” where I can simply type in the web address I want my domain name to forward to… so I typed in my WordPress blog web address. It didn’t work. I called Register.com and they said it should work with that tool… so I don’t know whats going on but I suspect its WordPress causing the problem. Am I missing something? Do I need to pay the $13 “Redirect Upgrade” on WordPress.com in order for my domain registered somewhere else to even point to my WordPress site? I’m really frustrated and do not understand “code” but I can follow simple instructions like changing DNS, etc. Can someone please help? Thanks.

  • There is difference between point and forward.

Forward means you can forward your domain to a single link like
    yourblog.wordpress.com

It is not wordpress.com that causing the problem.you can forward to any blog or domain from your domain panel at register.com.
    It is issue with register.com

Point means you can replace yourblog.wordpress.com with your domain for each post and pages.

In this case you need “Redirect Upgrade” of wordpress.com
and need to update your domain’s “name servers” to the following:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Please consult your web host on this matter. Also, please consult WPCOM on site domain issues related to WPCOM sites. You do not need to understand code, just be the owner of the domain and explain your issue with the domain registrar and web host (often they are the the same and that can simplify the process)

The help u can get is from your hosting provided , the way u did it should work .. have u tried it seeing using proxy or by clearing your dns flush ..it might be a dns issue as well
