Support » Plugin: WPtouch - Make your WordPress Website Mobile-Friendly » I can not see the tag I want to use for the Featured Posts slider in the list

  • First off, this is a great plugin. The best for an easy transition to a mobile site.

I’m having an issue with the “Featured Slider”. There’s an option to include only posts with a certain tag, which I’m trying to do, but when I click the list of tags a bunch come up but not the one I want to use “Featured”.

My current desktop theme’s Featured Posts Slider utilizes the “Featured” tag, so that’s why I’m trying to do the same with the WPTouch theme so they match.

If anyone knows how I can fix this please let me know. Perhaps someone could direct me to the line of code in the plugin editor where I could tell it to use the “Featured” tag manually?

Still looking for help on this issue. It’s quite odd that the most used tag on my site is one of the few, if not only, tag not showing up in the list.

If the tag is not included in the list of available tags, then it is either not setup as a standard WordPress tag (i.e., it may be a taxonomy item which is unsupported by the free version of WPtouch) or there may be a Javascript conflict disrupting completion of the WPtouch Pro admin functions.

To verify that your site is free of such conflicts, deactivate all plugins except WPtouch from within the WordPress Plugins area, clear your browser cache and local data then test.

If WPtouch functions well, you may then enable the rest of your plugins one at a time, repeating the process, until you can identify which is/are causing the problem.

You may choose to replace the conflicting plugin with another or upgrade to WPtouch Pro which has a feature that will allow you to disable the conflicting plugin within your mobile theme but leave your desktop theme intact.

Not sure what you meant with the taxonomy part, but the tag I want to use is “Featured.” And, I did as you suggested and deactivated all of my plugins and cleared my browser’s cache and the list of tags did not change.

Taxonomies are special categories used by custom post types. Both are advanced features of WordPress desktop themes. If your desktop theme uses these, the free version of WPtouch will not be able to access them.

I don’t believe I am using those. It’s a tag I am trying to use, not a category.

Please verify that your desktop theme is not using custom post types then update this thread. Thank you.

My site did not use custom post types. I have since completely removed this plugin. I understand the idea of providing slow support for free members, but I had planned on buying the plugin until I ran into all of these problems. I’ve since switched to a responsive theme.

If your list of tags is long, they may exceed the maximum load limit set in WPtouch and therefore all will not display. That limit may be increased by modifying the core code but will affect load time of the admin area and be replaced on the next update.
