category pages do not exist

    I have set up some categories for my custom post types, but when I go to the category page, I get a 404 error.

    Also, I would actually like the categories for my custom post types to be specific only to those post types, rather than mixed in with the regular WP categories. Is this possible?

    Hi, for first issue: no specific settings are required to have taxonomy archive (listings) pages. Try refreshing (re-saving) Settings->Permalinks.

    You can set which post types use specific custom taxonomy on post type edit screen (Select Taxonomies) or taxonomy edit screen (Select Post Types).
