The latest version of SSP no longer has the whale icon in the menu. There will still be a menu item labelled ‘Podcast’. Inside that menu item you will find your settings and the page where you can add new episodes. If the menu item is not there for you then that means you have another plugin (or your theme) that is interfering with your WordPress dashboard menu in some way. This is obviously not my domain to fix, but if you deactivate all of your other plugins and revert to the default WordPress theme then you should see the menu again. From there you can reactivate your plugins one by one until you find out which one is breaking your dashboard menu.
I hope you get this sorted out!
Thanks for the quick reply Hugh. Unfortunately I pretty much need all of my plugins so I’ll have to use the manual method of getting to the controls.
Can you list the URL paths to the series page please. In other words, if I type in the URL path “edit.php?post_type=podcast” I can add an episode. What would I put for the other screen(s).
Is there a running list somewhere of known plugin conflicts?
If you find out which plugin is the problem you could reach out to that plugin developer to fix it for you. That being said, here is a list of the admin pages that the dashboard uses:
Manage episodes: edit.php?post_type=podcast
Manage series: edit-tags.php?taxonomy=series&post_type=podcast
Manage keywords: edit-tags.php?taxonomy=keywords&post_type=podcast
Settings: edit.php?post_type=podcast&page=podcast_settings
The only plugins that have known conflicts with SSP are other podcasting plugins (PodPress, PowerPress, PodLove, etc.).
Awesome. Thanks. Yeah if I figure it out I will ask them for help. I will also drop you a line so you can add it to your list. I don’t currently have any other podcasting plugins installed so I’ll have to go through the list individually.
With those URLs I can do what I need to though until then.
Cheers
