Can't edit image or add a new gallery

I’ve got a number of sites that need to be moved from NextGen to something that allows html in the captions, and hoped that this would work, but I have a few issues with it.

First, I can only create galleries by Importing them from NextGen. I can’t make a new gallery. The screen goes gray and sits there forever until I click the screen again. The same thing happens in I try to edit an individual image.

Also, my images have a scroll bar beneath them that is unattractive, and if I say I want 2 colums, I get one, and if I want 3 columns, I get 2. I don’t want to buy the full version unless I know that I can get it to work, as so far, it’s not letting me update or add galleries.
