    Thanks,
Yes the new version will have this toned down. I’m a bit confused that your using it on a commercial website without a license, have you seen the licensing rules for this plugin?

A major version will be released very soon which will separate free from paid, the paid version will have many new features and better support – the cost for this will go up from what it is now and anyone with a license now will get the new paid version for free, so I suggest you get it while its cheaper 🙂

Hey Dean, thanks for the reply

I did not create the website so I am not sure if the original creator that incorporated your plugin considered licensing. I was doing some unrelated maintenance when I noticed the comments.

I will notify the client of the licensing issue and the paid version.

    Funny.

I do agree though. Just edit the comments out of the scripts if you’re worried about peeps peeking at “your” code.

Excited to hear about an update. This plug-in saved me hours of hack-a-doodling. Works like a charm and super easy to customize if you know a little somethin’ – somethin’.

I already made my recurring donation via PayPal. Learned about dollars to pounds exchange rates too. I suggest others do the same. Useful plugins should be supported financially. Otherwise, they WILL go “missing.”

People love free. Especially WordPress folks. But, people gotta keep the lights and internet on you know, In addition, serious developers have the added expense these days of buying a bunch of new devices to test sh*t on.

So, before you start making demands on poor Mr. William’s time, ask yourself if you have the right.

I do not make demands of Mr. William. I believe it is reasonable and in keeping with the the open-source spirit of WordPress and its plugins to make a suggestion.

What licensing rules? All plugins hosted in https://wordpress.org/plugins/ are released under GPL – which means that anyone can use them as many times as they like on as many commercial sites as they want.

esmi I was not aware of this, the latest release will be changing this anyway but why have you just gone and removed the plugin from the site before first letting me know and allowing me the chance to make adjustments?

Can you please re-instate this plugin I will remove all notices that say you have to get a license if using for commercial purposes.
Let me know ASAP as I will make amendments and get it up within the next hour or two.

    Thanks

Can you please re-instate this plugin

I’m flattered that you think I have the ability to do this but I didn’t remove your plugin from the repository. You need to contact plugins [at] wordpress [dot] org about this. It was the team at this address who took this action.

Thanks NewOrleansDude for your great words, please email me directly if you ever need help with anything! The world needs more people like you.

    Thanks again 🙂

@ sjlevy I wasn’t really talking about you making demands on Mr. Williams. I apologize if you took offense.

As said, I did agree with you about Mr. WIlliams off-the-cuff comments. But, he was just having a little fun. No harm in that. Nothing malicious or mean spirited. He’s a young cat. I think his website says he was born in 1987. My last year of graduate school. So … give him time.

Anyway, what inspired my comment was reading through the posts on here. The tone of many of the support questions/comments directed at Mr. WIlliams (and other generous WP plugin authors) are fairly nasty and demanding.

There is just this sense of “entitlement” that many people have. It’s discouraging. The WP depository and the Internet is littered with projects and websites that have been simply abandoned for lack of support – even a kind word or thank you.

I noticed Mr. Williams work was missing from the WP depository this morning. I came to see what was up. Although I can only speculate, I suspect someone made an issue of something they didn’t like.

As said, Mr. Williams is young and I believe his future is bright.

I’ll be reaching out to him soon. He’s smart … even if he is a live wire.

The plugin was removed because it was breaching the plugin submission guidelines for wordpress.org.
