    Hi,

I like your plugin because it provides pretty good information compared to other statistics wordpress plugins (I currently use 4 of them, because none is really exhaustive).

One thing I don’t understand is the difference between “Unique IPs” and “Visits” in the “Visitors” screen. I’ve got every day more “Unique IPs” than “Visits” which seems very strange (the reverse situation would be more understandable).

Can you display somewhere an explanation about this difference?

    Regards.

    Hi,

Your confusion is understandable. Visits include just human visitors, while Unique IP by default include also search engines and other bots. If bots love your website, you will get a lot of pageviews from them, which increases the Unique IP count.

    Hope this makes sense,
    Camu

    Hi,

I found pretty strange to put search engines and bots statistics in a chart called “Daily Human Visits”! The label “Unique IPs” doesn’t help either!

You make a good point, indeed 😉 Unfortunately some bots don’t play fair, or in other words they identify themselves as ‘regular browsers’ even if they are bots. In this case, there’s no way for the server-side tracker to know the truth, so they are counted as ‘humans’. But since they don’t support cookies, no visit_id is assigned to them.

If you want to avoid tracking bots, set Tracking Mode to Javascript in the options.

    Best,
    Camu

PS: a review for SlimStat would be a nice way to say thank you.
