• I am using the Contempt theme on WordPress, and I’ve figured out how to change some things with the custom CSS, such as link, border, and header colors on the sidebar, link colors in the entries, and the background color. I’m having a few problems figuring out two things, though:

    1. How do I get rid of those gray columns alongside the main body of the page?

    2. How do I change the color of the comments/news/permalink links on the bottom of each entry?

The link to my site is here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • 1. The Contempt theme uses this image as the background:
    http://s.wordpress.com/wp-content/themes/pub/contempt/images/blue_flower/bg.jpg

This image is repeated vertically down the page, and this is where the gray columns are created. If you want to get rid of the bars, you have to change the image.

    2. You’ll have to play around with your css files to change the colours – play around with anything with an a tag until you hit the ones you’re looking for.

Helpful tip! I was able to find various elements of your site pretty easily using a plugin called Firebug for Firefox. If you’re running Firefox, go ahead and pick up the plugin because it’ll help you see how your site is laid out.

Thanks so much Brendino! I do use Firefox, so I’m going to pick up that plugin for sure. That should help a lot. Thanks again for your help.
