  • i know u said it’s resolved, but this is what i’ve been using w/o any issues since starting with multisite.

    wp maintenance mode
wp maintenance mode admin bar alert <<this is nice to have

Thanks for that – it’s the actual plugin I have decided to use and it does its job well. Appreciate your help!

    no problem.

also add this one to your arsenal for individual blogs: ultimate maintenance mode

just network install it, then go to settings>>maintenance mode on whatever site, then enable it to take it down.

so if u want to take the whole network down, use the 1st. for one at a time, use the 2nd.

    good luck

that was going to be my second question – taking individual sites down on a multisite install….you have just saved me precious time and I am grateful. I shall download this now, thank you.

    glad to help.

btw, what type of media is ‘airtagmedia?’ just curious.

airtagmedia is a little bit of all mediums mixed in 😉

if u’r the site from the uk – i’m in the us, btw – i kinda like the few samples u had listed.

so can i assume u do both site logos and facebook banners as well? maybe i’ll send u an email in a few weeks or so, to see what u can come up with, i’ve got a laundry list of things to complete right now but need a more cohesive, professional look to both items.

lastly, i’m not ready to do a theme from the ground up, but do u have any creative suggestions on what buddypress/wordpress themes make your grade in both standard and mobile applications? i don’t want to say what theme i have now – it looks like he’s not doing well – and want to move to one that keeps progressing, especially when i, and others, pay them for a premium theme.

thanks, look forward to your response.

MODS: sorry for taking this a bit off topic, his issue is solved, just trying to keep the wp phenomena going. 🙂

Yes, the site in the UK is my site – I run a small graphic design business which is just starting out reselling webspace & sites etc. Please feel free to email me if you need any help with design issues.

There are some awesome premium themes out there that support bbpress/wordpress out of the box and each of them differ in terms of functionality, looks and multi-device compatibility. Many of the themes offer an array of design options that will enhance your UX (user experience)and the UI(user interface) – this is totally down to solid, by the book coding adhering to current industry best coding practices. Themeforest is home to some awesome developers and you should take a look at the popular wp items or specific theme developers like Kriesi if you want a theme you can trust!

as long as i don’t burn myself out before i get to that point, i’ll send u an email in a few weeks and see if what ur first thoughts r.

yeah, i’ve been to themeforest lots of times but never came across kriesi’s themes for buddypress, and here’s why…

Hey! I am afraid I cant tell. Its not optimized for buddypress but that doesnt mean It wont work with it since I have been told that buddypress is undertaking some efforts to make the plugin compatible with any theme.

however, if you want to be 100% sure I would recommend to search for a theme that explicitly states buddypress compatibility

that was posted, literally, a few hours ago.

bu i do agree, he’s got some nice clean and professional looking themes, just don’t like the idea using a theme that hasn’t focused on the social element because i learned that lesson once already, not a fun experience, imo. and sure, they say buddypress is free to work on all sites – or, at least, getting close to – i just don’t want to re-create the wheel and then realize my best bet was to target a buddypress focused theme in the first place. i’m sure u understand.

anyways, nice chatting with u, and you’ll probably hear from me a little down the road.

    cheers
