• Hello, Today I updated from old version to the new version of wordpress. I can see my site rishimodi(dot)com up and running, but when i’m having problem with Admin area. In Firefox I cannot see the admin page (its blank) and in IE I can see login page but when I type user name and password it shows me a page called 500 internal error. My admin was working fine before installation. I’ve upgraded other blogs of mine on same server even they are working fine. I was wondering what could have gone wrong. Help will be highly appreciated.

  • To start with, I’d try to upload the files from the WP installation root again, if that doesn’t help, upload the wp-admin and wp-includes again and if that doesn’t do the trick, perhaps you need to download a new copy of WP and try above.
Btw., did you delete the files from the old WP before you uploaded the new ones?

I’m having this same problem. I upgraded to 2.5.1 and everything worked fine for days, and then all of a sudden nothing works.

I’ve uploaded the files from the WP root, and the up-admin and wp-includes. I’ve downloaded a new copy of WordPress and even tried a different FTP client.

I’ve resolved the problem, I think.

@rishimodi — Use your FTP Client to backup your current theme. Then delete it from your theme directory, and to be sure – if you have multiple themes, backup and delete all of them except classic and default. Then you should be able to login to the dashboard. After that, the first thing you need to do is activate the default theme.

Then, re-upload your theme. If you get a “this theme is broken” after you activate it, then you know the problem is there — that was my problem.

I fixed it, then reactivated it and everything works fine.
