• Hey,

I’ve been hunting for a plugin recently with no results, so hoped that someone here might have used something similar in the past.

Essentially, I’m looking to build an intranet-esque site for a parent company that requires signup/login to view. However, within the signup form, I need to be able to group users (via a drop down or similar) into their respective child companies.

Once they’ve logged in, I want to restrict access to the other companies post feeds which will be in the main menu, and allow access only to the company’s feed they selected at signup. There will be 6 or so companies listed in the menu.

I know it’s pretty specific, but does anybody know of something that could do the job?

    Thanks in advance, Graeme.

  • Hey graemebryson5,

This could be accomplished through the use of several plugins. Personally, I have not seen a plugin that would do this.

For the signup process, you could use Gravity Forms. This is a premium plugin, but it’s worth the cost. Gravity Forms has a user registration add-on that would work great for your scenario.

For the access restrictions that you need, I have used a mix of two different plugins. To create user roles, I have used Members by Justin Tadlock. To restrict access based on those user roles, I use WordPress Access Control.

I am using this on an intranet site at a University. The data on this particular site is sensitive. We have tested extensively to make sure that access was not allowed to non-logged in users or specific groups.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Allen,

Thanks for taking the time to reply – that’s awesome. As it stood, I was looking at using ‘Membership’ from wpmudev, but it seems a bit clunky and dated.

I’m already looking into your suggestion now, and I’m pretty certain it’ll work out.

    Thanks again!

    Graeme
