Seems like it’s not my day here. I noticed some thumbnails were wrong so I thought I’d start with a clean slate. I started by using the “Clear Video Thumbnails” function which worked, all my posts no longer had the featured image being displayed.

I went to “Scan All Posts” and it performs the function, and gives me a “Success” near each post. When I go back to the front-end, the thumbnails are still not displayed. When I check my uploads folder, I can confirm new thumbnails were not generated.

When I would “edit post,” I would notice all the old images are still attached to their respective singular posts. If I manually regenerate a thumbnail for a single post, only then will it show up on the main page again.

Is there any other way to automate a fetch?

I’ve just released version 2.4 witch has a totally rewritten tool to scan all posts. Please give it a try and let me know how it goes!

Would it also scan posts before the 2.0 update? As in, would it scan ALL posts?

If I were to make a backup of my current DB, and the scan is busted, would it restore all the thumbnails? Or would they physically be removed from the server?

    Thanks for all your help!

The “Clear Video Thumbnails” button will delete all the custom fields used by Video Thumbnails. It will also delete the images from the media library as well as actual image files, but only for thumbnails created since 2.0, so anything from the past 8 months.

Thumbnails added before 2.0 will never be able to be automatically removed because there’s no way to differentiate them from a thumbnail manually uploaded.
