• I’ll be launching my first blog on 1/1/14. On any given day, if I have something to blog about, I will … just your normal blogging activity. BUT, I’ve also got a bunch of things I’ve PREVIOUSLY written, dating back several years. On days when I don’t have anything else to post, I’d like to post one of these older pieces. I know I can’t date them accordingly; if I do, then a “brand-new” post dated in 2003 would wind up at the bottom of the stack, chronologically, and people would be less likely to find it. So I’m starting each of these older pieces with a “dateline” at the top, as part of the text, and using “real time” as the publishing date.

And I intend for these all to be posts. I considered making them all pages, with a BLOG menu drop-down where each could be accessed there, but I’m thinking that’s NOT a smart way to do this.

I guess my question is: Is there some smarter way to achieve the same goal that would be more in-line with the way “everybody else” does blogs? I’m very new at this, and I’m afraid that I’m going to get things started, and then in a couple of months, I’ll regret not having organized it some other way entirely.

Hope this isn’t too vague a question. I’d be grateful for any seasoned bloggers’ thoughts. THANKS!!

  • Hey,

If I’m understanding you, it sounds like your approach is good.

Also, you’re definitely right about not wanting to make these pages. If you want to have all of these special, re-published posts accessible together, you can create a special category or tag just for these posts and add a link to that archive to your menu.

That’s a HUGE help, Josh … thanks VERY much! Your suggestion re: grouping the old ones in a category is EXACTLY what I’m gonna do. Have a great 2014….
