    Hi Max,

I’m having an issue with media files which are set to protected and are in the media vault still be accessible.

They are not protected when browsing the site and I can directly browse the wp-content/uploads/_mediavault/ directory and access the images and PDFs I have in this directory.

I’m at a lose of what to check… all seems set up correctly and the .htaccess file is showing the rewrite rules.

At first I could not get the plugin to work on my local machine, but did have it working on a test site hosted with site5. But after recently updating the WordPress theme and reinstalling the plugin it now no longer works.

I also noticed the file urls in the media library show a /./ in the url, is this correc?

    uploads/_mediavault/./94264_2_01.jpg

    Am I missing something obvious?

Thank you in advance of any help you can offer.

    Wayne

    Hi,

As an update to this, I carried out a fresh WordPress install, installed theme, added Media Vault plugin, and all seems to be working.

    Not sure what went wrong.

Interesting, did you have any other plugins installed in your earlier setup that was producing the problem?

Or a theme different to the one you are using in the fresh install?

    Hi Max,

It seems that the media vault directory is not protected when I turn off “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders” under media settings.

If you turn this of you can access the files by browsing directly to the upload folder, when I switch it back on the media vault folder is protected again.

Maybe if you could test this out to see if you get the same result and if so what the fix would be?

    Hey Wayne,

Thanks for the info, yes there was a indeed a bug in the code that made that unexpected behavior happen. Thank you very much for letting me know.

It is fixed in version 0.8.8! Try it out and let me know!
