Support » Fixing WordPress » broken .css in Safari and other things

  • I just tried changing wp-layout.css, and I noted that the smae problem I had with the templates in MT and b2 are still evident in WP. The templates “break” in my browser. that is, when I uploaded starfield, the right column is on top of the entires; red, and your basic three column, I ended up with the side column at the bottom of the screen. Is there areason why the CSS would do this? I would like to change the background to a more eye easy cream or off white. Chris’ template “Red Like Stalin” is actually easier on my eyes than white is.
    Thanks

  • Post a link to your site, so some of us can have a look at it. There may be issues with Safari that are causing the problems. You may have to learn some work-arounds or something that are Safari-specific.

    Craig.

    Safari messes up CSS. At least that’s been my experience. My site looks fine on both Mozilla and IE (PC/Mac), but Safari makes minor goofs. Unfortunately, Safari is my default browser.

    let me correct the URL: http://kelly.winterslight.org/index.php
    /me wanders off singing “Der deed erderder deee”

    By the way, it seems to be down at the moment, but this site lets you view your own site as seen in Safari: http://www.danvine.com/icapture/

    @dbowen: it’s back up again. http://kelly.winterslight.org/index.php
    Thank you

    wow, safari HAD been working well for me (www.chait.net), but now while I’ve finally got things positioning correct, INCLUDING the sliding-doors tabs, the main title graphic is missing, as is the sidebar block graphics (which are really similarly styled to the tabs!).
    First thing I noticed is, your site doesn’t validate HTML. Looks like minor stuff though.
    Then, validating CSS unfortunately dies, likely to some because of the prior errors.
    I’m having trouble re-validating my own CSS at the moment — though it was fine before my last pass of revisions..
    While passing CSS validation doesn’t mean a browser will display your site, failing means lots of wacky things could be involved… 😉

    also, it is misreading the ampersand (&) in “Shack & Awe, LLC” as an error: Line 82, column 92: character “&” is the first character of a delimiter but occurred as data
    at=4′ title=’View all posts in Shock & Awe, LLC’>Shock & Awe, LLC

    </u
    and the meetup link is giving it problems.
