error message when trying to login to wordpress

    hi guys

    I have uploaded a child theme and created a functions.php file to recently but am now getting this error message when going to the login screen ‘wp-admin’

    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /homepages/7/d504092867/htdocs/app504106735/wp-content/themes/customizr-child/functions.php:1) in /homepages/7/d504092867/htdocs/app504106735/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 899

    I can see my site at ‘http://cara-lea-dance.co.uk/wp-admin/themes.php’

    but this is worrying.

    Also I can not upgrade to WP 8.0 and get this error message

    The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.: wp-admin/includes/update-core.php

    Installation Failed

    Any ideas why this is happening?

    i had created a functions.php file within my child theme dir. Having removed it everything is working normally again.

    Is there anything I need to know about doing this? as clearly the way I had done it caused issues.

    customizr (folder)
    customizr-child (folder)
    functions.php (file)

    Hi rd
    it’s the functions.php file in my child-theme that has caused the issue–as i removed it and all is now fine.
