Disable featured post image header

    I want to disable the featured Image header in Post Pages in a MyLife Child Theme.
    I my Child Theme function.php I try to disable the function with:

    remove_theme_support( 'my_life_header_image' );

    But it the featured Image, which I need for the post image, will remain in the Header.
    Whats wrong with my thought?
