Hi,

I would like to use the Catch Mustang theme. I asked did they support multilingual and your plugin, their response was relating to .pot files.

Catch Mustang theme is Translation ready theme where you will find catchmustang.pot files in languages directory. But I am not sure about the plugin how they use translation. You need to ask in that plugin support forum.

I cannot find the search for your plugin’s issue queue unfortunately. Does the Polylang plugin support .pot files or does it require some other / additional multilingual integration?

the .pot file is a template for .po translations files. It contains all the translatable strings but the translations are left empty.

With a plugin such as Codestyling Localization, you don’t have to bother of this file and you just have to use the plugin to translate your theme (since it is translation ready).

This said, it just means that you can use your theme in a different language than English. For some themes, translating the static strings is sufficient for multilingual sites.

But other themes allow users to modify some strings in theme options. These strings are stored in DB, not in a .po file. In that case, some extra work is needed to inform Polylang it has to translate these custom strings.
