• Hi,
My wordpress site displays the ‘Sorry, that key does not appear to be valid’ text on password resetting from email reset.

I have tried numerous old solutions mentioned on this site and other forums with no success. An emergency password reset is not appropriate as I have over 500 members (Magic Members) on my site who all need to change their password currently.

Password reset was working a couple of months ago so I am assuming there was a change with the most recent upgrade.

    any suggestions?

    thanks,
    Meg

See this guide for a variety of password reset options:

Sounds like aside from the link Tara posted, you may want to ask on that plugins forum about this issue.

Thanks for the suggestion Tara but non of those are appropriate since it is a site with hundreds of users. and the problem needs a permanent fix.

WPyogi, I have considered contacting Magic Members but the problem didn’t exist till the recent WordPress upgrade. and the error is a known error for wordpress in the past.

I don’t know of any known issues with the current version of WP. Have you checked with your hosting company in case something changed there?

I have been having this issue and finding a lot of people who use TML plugin. But I don’t use it and have this problem too. I am working with about 20 membership sites that use Wishlist and discovered this issue.

Just for the sake of being helpful I will post my solution to this issue.

    Point your browser to: https://api.wordpress.org/secret-key/1.1/salt/
Open your wp-config.php and reupdate the Authentication Unique Keys section. The instructions are found in the config file. Super simple and worth a try.

    My issue has been resolved.
