This is probably a problem with my host but every time I try attempting to update a plugin automatically, I get the following error:

Error: There was an error connecting to the server, Please verify the settings are correct.

Is this something that can be fixed within WP or something I have to talk to my host about? All my account settings are correct and can login using my FTP client just fine.

I have the same problem, I have not been able to correct it to date.

I found that because I was attempting to ftp from within my server, I needed to use the name of the server as the ftp host rather than the normal ftp host name used with an ftp program. I.E. “testbox” instead of “myhost.com”

Not sure what you mean when you say ‘from within my server”. I’m having the login problem but I am using the server of my ISP. I have looked at the control panel and seen that “Shell access to server with FTP user’s credentials” is forbidden. Does this mean I can’t use the automatic upgrader?

I could not login to my wordpress admin after using the plug-in. I cleared the cache and history of my firefox 3 browser. This allowed me to log-in again.

A second blog I updated worked by changing browsers when asked to log-in again.

cannot login to upgrade my plugins. after 2.7 update.
other wordpress websites works fine. on the same server.
    what can i do ?
