I know there are validation errors, but I’m working on fixing those. One question specifically about those errors: what does it mean when it says that blockquote is not a valid element in my posts? And the same question for br’s in the sidebar. Thanks in advance.
Aside from that, however, what do you think about this lightly modified Kubrick? Before I transferred to WordPress, I used a header very similar to the one I just made. The main thing I’m thinking about doing is taking away the border between the sidebar and the posts.
What do you all think about this layout?

  • Not bad. The expanded banner seems to clash slightly with the rest of the layout, though. Otherwise a good take on the Kubrick theme.
    RE Validation errors:
I could be wrong (and considering the XHTML DTD, it’s always possible), but I believe

cannot be a child of the element.
XHTML requires closing tags for all elements. In the case of empty tags like <br>, close it by using the slash at the end:

I know the closing tag trick. I just have been too lazy to go in and fix ALL of my open tags yet and it’s not ingrained in my blood yet.
If blockquote can’t be a child of p, do I have to remove my blockquote entirely or is there a way around that? Thanks, Shane

Just force them down a couple lines in your posts so WP closes the p tag for the previous paragragh. And like I said, I could be wrong…

Nice site, too bad about your thumbnail >.<

Haha, thanks. Love your blog and how you make it as a website powered by WordPress; gives me ideas.
I made some more changes to the layout today, mainly the adding of a slogan below the plane and a gradient behind the date.
