The titles, which were displaying perfectly, have now disappeared. I hadn’t changed the title settings. Now, I have tried changing to all title settings (float, outside, inside, overlay) and “allow title from thumbnail alt…” and can’t get the titles back. The fancybox lightbox appears, but no titles. Can you advise what has likely been lost?
    Thanks Judy

Sorry…forgot to give you the link: http://www.claystudiotour.com. Click on any artist page and see the 8-image gallery at the top. Click on an image and it shows Fancybox lightbox.

Hi Judy, I see only a Galleria slideshow…

Try this page: http://claystudiotour.com/lee-akins/ or this page http://claystudiotour.com/judy-nelson-moore/ or any of the other 68 artist named pages linked on the right side of the home page. Thanks…

    Trying to figure this out. When I inspect the fancybox image in the inspector on this page: http://claystudiotour.com/lee-akins/, I see a <div id=”fancybox-title” style=””></div> this has an css style applied “inline” display: none;
When I remove the display none through the inspector, the title does NOT appear, however, presumably because it is not getting generated by fancybox. The titles are in the title of the media item. However, the alt title does not show either if I click the fancybox media item “Allow title from thumbnail alt tag” I have never been able to get that option to work on this site.

Interesting, this page: http://celebrationofclay.com/peoples-choice/ uses the same plugins and has “allow title from thumbnail alt tag” checked…the titles DO show from the alt tag.

I need to know what I should do to get the titles to display on the pages in claystudiotour.com. I am hoping you can help me!

Enable the option “Allow title from Alt attribute…” on Settings > Media.

I have tried that…it doesn’t work. Also, because I couldn’t get that to work, I have already put the descriptions I need into over 400 images on this site into the Title field. I guess I could move them in the database, but only if I could get the alt title checkbox to work.

I notice you are using WP Super Cache. You might need to clear the cache to see changes…

    Seems to be working now…

You can turn WP Super Cache back on 😉

OK, I turned off caching, cleared the cache, and deactivated WP Super Cache. The titles still do not appear. If I click the option “Allow title from thumbnail alt tag” I do get the alt text. That is where I have left it for now.
Any ideas as to how I could get the titles to appear before I go into the database to move all the titles to the alt tags?
Thanks so much for your attention to this problem!

No, titles are still not working. I moved all the titles into the alt and clicked “Allow title from thumbnail alt tag”. However, the problem is that the alt tag does not recognize the html tags I put in for line breaks. Right now, one of the alt tags in this page: http://claystudiotour.com/karin-bergh/ is “Two Trout </br>Square plate</br>L: 10.25 x W: 10.25 x H:0.5</br>$68.00</br>handmolded, majolica, cone 04” but the description shows on one line.

How can I get line breaks in the alt tag?

Try <br/> or better <br> (HTML5 compliant) instead of </br>.

By the way, the reason why the titles are not showing while the alt texts are (only if ‘Allow alt…’ is checked) is that the titles are not present in the source code. If they are not there, FancyBox can not have them either.

I don’t know why the titles are stripped out on your site. It might be another plugin or your theme doing that… In any case, it cannot be Easy FancyBox because it does not interfere with the actual gallery or image insertion itself.

    I tried
    and
in the alt text and they do not produce a line break in the fancybox display. Interesting, when I try to edit the media library item within WordPress, these html tags are stripped out when I save the edit. I have added them on the database directly, however, and they still don’t produce a line break.

Regarding the titles not present in the source code, this must be an issue with WordPress 3.7. I see on wordpress.org that wordpress 3.7 had a change to the wordpress gallery. I’m wondering if they lost the titles during the 3.7.1 update. Here is another post that seems to suggest the problem: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/wordpress-371-gallery-image-titles?replies=2#post-4885794
