I just built a button using Pinterest button using their Widget builder. I took the code and entered it into a post by pasting it inside the text. It seems to work as it is in my post.

HI and thank you for the reply. I have tried pasting the Pinterest code inside text many times to insert a pin image or board image and it does not show up.
Oddly, and extremely oddly, today upon reading your answer, I did it again just to make sure and the image now shows up.

I tried this too and it’s not working on mine either–I tried the url not linked and also the Pinterest code in text mode and neither works. Very frustrating, especially as Sue points out that it works on WordPress.com blogs but not .org?
WordPress.ORG and WordPress.COM do not have identical functionality.

Thanks–I figured it out. I had to go add the javascript to the head of template, THEN create button and then it worked, after much fooling with it. fingers crossed it stays fixed!

Hi, as I said above it worked, oh hooray, but it did NOT stay. After updating the draft post, the code DISAPPEARS and will not Save. As someone above says, .org and .com are not identical and of course I know that. I have also had the javascript in my header/footer area all along, as instructed. I can easily put pins or boards into my sidebar, but NOT into a post is the issue. I am just looking for an easy way to also include Pinterest pins and boards in my posts like others on the internet. Frustrated that Pinterest and .org are not working together.

I don’t know anything about Pinterest but I think this is what you want.
I have experienced the same thing. I embed a pin using the code from the Pinterest widget, publish, and all is well. If I then go back and edit the post, using the HTML “text” editor, no matter what I do, the pin doesn’t display even though it’s in the “text” view.
Now, if I cut the pin code out and keep it in my computer’s buffer, save the post, go to the WordPress dashboard, open up the post for editing again, paste the pin code back in where it was, and publish, it magically works. Unfortunately, I don’t know enough about what WordPress does to save post content to suggest a fix, but there’s something odd going on when saving later revisions of these posts.
