I’ve uploaded it to my plugin folder and activated it. But I still have the flash uploader, which is still not working
If you have that plugin installed and activated, then no, you do not have the flash uploader. Whether it’s working or not, I cannot say, but it ain’t the flash uploader if that plugin is enabled.
@ katootje: I had the same problem, which isn’t a problem. The flash and non-flash uploader just look pretty much the same. If the popup doesn’t have a fancy upload button (but a ‘browse’ and ‘upload’ button), then it’s the non-flash (for as far as I can tell). Or am I painfully mistaken here?
Correct. The flash uploader shows the “Choose Files to Upload” button.
FYI…I activated the No-Flash-Uploader, saw the non-flash version of the window (pic here), and the image uploader is still staying blank after click the “Insert Into Post” button.
I’m currently getting around this by uploading the image and then writing my own HTML code to link to the image. Sort of crude, but it gets the job done.

I am having problems saveing photos so I have just tried the recommended plugin. I do get hte plugin but I am still unable to upload photos I now get this full blown error:
