Album template – how do I pass a gallery template

I have a weird problem. I am creating an image slider on my front page and I wrote an album template to achieve this.

I need to display the content from the gallery description when I show this gallery because there isn’t a way on the front page to do so. (way too much info for the scrolling gallery to handle).

Here is my dilemma, I either need to be able to specify the gallery template (there are posts online indicating I can, but don’t work) OR I need to be able to override the default gallery and pick up a command line variable that tells me to print the description.

I have over a hundred galleries dropped into posts that I do not want the description printed for.

Can it be done?
